INDETERMINATE - CLIMBING

POTATO-LEAF VARIETY

Brandywine tomatoes are an old Amish heirloom known since 1885. They were named after a local creek.

They produce large flat solid red-pinkish fruit to 12cm, with few seeds and a mild non-acid taste.

They're an indeterminate, climbing tomato and an excellent source of Vitamin C, A and E, potassium, fibre and antioxidants.

Brandywine tomatoes have a superior flavour and are my favourite tomato (so far) for flavour. You'll never find these on supermarket shelves

  • Tomatoes prefer open sunny positions and are sensitive to frosts. Mulch them well and water at the base rather than overhead to reduce disease. Consistent watering is required - they hate to be waterlogged however they are prone to blossom end rot if allowed to dry out too much between watering.

They grow well on light to heavy soils with good drainage and high organic matter and phosphorus.

Find a new spot for your Solanum family each year or so (Tomatoes, Capsicum, Chillis, Eggplant, Spuds) to prevent disease.
