Monarda didyma

Bergamot aka 'Bee Balm' has red summer blooms that are nectar rich and attractive to bees and other insects. Leaves and stems when crushed smell of Bergamot orange.

Bergamot will spread however is not invasive. Over time it can mound to approx 120cm high and wide.

It prefers morning sun and partial afternoon shade and a rich soil that holds moisture well.

Bergamot is extremely cold tolerant and not affected by frost. Top dress with compost when it's dormant over winter.
