Tongue of Fire is a bush bean that has flattened, red-streaked, green pods. The young fresh beans can be eaten whole when young or left to mature and dry as a Borlotti bean - ideal for baked beans.
Bean - Bush/Dwarf- Tongue of Fire
Bush beans don't require support but will benefit from stakes placed beside them to minimise buffeting from the wind and potential breaking. Pick crop regularly to ensure a long cropping season.
Beans like rich, well-drained soil with plenty of organic matter in full sun or part shade. Mulch and keep the water up to them for a bumper crop.
Plant about 15 - 20cm apart from seed or seedlings. Beans can be planted all through Spring and into Summer.
